It's all a matter of taste in Cleethorpes

Not many of us are wine connoisseurs but most of us know what we like - and with that in mind I went to a wine tasting session for a new range of fruit wines in Cleethorpes.
See who was at the wine tasting session in our gallery
Fabulously Fruity wines is a new family affair venture, with owners of Peaks Top Farm, Linda and Rodney Clayton and their son Peter and Cleethorpes couple Julie Collins, Steve Eddowes and their daughter Marie Collins.
Peaks Top Farm have been growing fruit for over 30 years and make the wine in small batches to ensure the freshness of their new 'Fabulously Fruity' wines.
All the fruit is locally grown on the farms, and hand-crafted in the traditional style to retain the bouquet of freshly picked fruit.
There are seven varieties - strawberry, raspberry, bramble, apple, blackcurrant, gooseberry and red gooseberry at £7.95 per bottle with a limited special edition of Sloe and Rosehip at £8.95 per bottle.
There is something for every palate and at 11 per cent proof, the fruity wines are comparable to grape wines
Many of us have been to Peaks Top Farm to 'pick-your-own' strawberries and seasonal fruit but did you know you can also buy free-range fresh eggs, fresh vegetables, preserves and now of course wine.
The farm, just off the A1098 on Hewitts Avenue, New Waltham, DN36 4RS also offers accommodation including a certified location for caravans, and bed and breakfast.
I 'had' to try all the wines (in the name of reporting) and my two favourites were gooseberry (which tasted like a good crisp white wine) and apple - but of course it's all a matter of taste. Also on sale were 'homemade' jams and chutneys at £2.30 a jar.
They will be holding more wine tasting sessions throughout the summer and I would reommend that you go and try a new wine-tasting experience, for details or to order wine tel 01472 812941.
I think it's great to be able to taste the wine before you buy a bottle. How many of us have wandered up and down the aisles in shops looking for a wine only to get it home and find you don't really like it? This way you get to taste before you buy.

I was really pleased to see so many people turn out at Peaks Top Farm yesterday. I'd also like to thank Rodney and Linda for all their hard work and faith in my wines. Also huge thanks to Marie and Lee for their help and support. We shall be picking Elderflower soon and there will be a few new flavours arriving shortly. Once again thank you all who attended.

ReportI know what you mean - as some of it tastes fruity it feels like you're drinking cordial - but it is wine!

ReportWent to the tasting yesterday at Peaks Top Farm - wow, some very fruity wines. Particular favourite was also the gooseberry. Very fresh. Very much like a crisp white. The rosehip was nice too and the blackcurrant, and the bramble... glad I wasn't driving!
